Time Flies When You're Having Rum!
Discover The Secrets Of The Rum Cave.
As the incorrigible Captain Jack Sparrow always says: "One kind word can change someone's whole day. Rum!" and certainly his crazy pirate persona has become synonymous with the Caribbean's famous and beloved spirit.
In reality, there were fearsome seafarers like François Le Clerc, known as "Jambe de Bois" ("Peg Leg"), a 16th-century French privateer from Normandy who is credited as the first pirate in the modern era to have a wooden leg. He and his crew of 330 men are reported to be the first Europeans to settle on Saint Lucia, using Pigeon Island to target Spanish treasure galleons - and other rum-robbing pirates.
At Marigot Bay Resort, it's not just our location that makes us a rum-runner's dream! We have some secret weapons in our arsenal to make sure our guests sample the best of the island's rum. Take for example The Rum Cave, where thick cellar walls, dimly-lit coolness and polished barrel tables transport you to a time when those real pirates were plying our sapphire waters on schooners and sloops loaded with a precious cargo of grog.
Taking guests through the story of Saint Lucian and Caribbean rum is the job - and passion - of Bar Supervisor, Denis, who's been working at Marigot Bay Resort for over 30 years and is our rum expert. Leading the Rum-tasting Experience, Denis uses his unparalleled knowledge to create entertaining evenings for groups of up to 100 people.
If rum-on-the-rocks isn't your style, our swim-up cocktail bar offers an astounding selection of rum-coctions for every palette, from the frothy banana-coconut lover to the dedicated mojito drinker - the bartenders will even create a unique drink and name it after you!
Whether it's creating your own spiced blend, savouring the many nuances of Saint Lucia's own Chairman's Reserve range of premium rums, or enjoying a gorgeous cocktail, Marigot Bay Resort, Spa and Marina has plenty of ways to deep-dive into the rum experience during your vacation.
